Camping is one of the best ways to explore the natural beauty of the UK, and with summer fast approaching, now is the perfect time to plan your next trip. From rugged coastlines to rolling hills and picturesque valleys, the UK has no shortage of stunning locations to pitch your tent or park up your camper. Here are some of the must-visit camping destinations in the UK, along with our teams pick of the best campsites.

Lake District

The Lake District National Park in Cumbria is a paradise for campers. With its stunning mountain scenery, crystal clear lakes, and scenic walking trails, it's no surprise that the Lake District is one of the most popular camping destinations in the UK. There are plenty of campsites in the area, many of which offer amazing views of the surrounding hills and valleys.

Lake District campsite recommendations:

  • Keswick Camping and Caravanning Club Site, Keswick - located in the heart of the lake district and right next to Derwentwater Lake, this campsite is surrounded by incredible scenery whilst also been close to Keswick town centre. The best of both worlds in our eyes.
  • The Quiet Site, Penrith - ideal for those looking for pure peace and quiet. This site is located just a short drive away from Ullswater Lake where you'll find so many great walking routes.

Cornwall

The rugged coastline and sandy beaches of Cornwall make it an ideal destination for a summer camping trip. Whether you're looking for a peaceful retreat or a fun-filled family vacation, Cornwall has something for everyone. Some of the best campsites in Cornwall are situated near the coast, offering spectacular sea views and easy access to the beach.

Cornwall campsite recommendations:

  • Gwithian Farm Campsite, Hayle – this is a family run campsite close to one of our favourite spots in Cornwall, St Ives. It’s only a short 10-minute walk from the beautiful coastline, making it an ideal spot for beach activities.
  • Beacon Cottage Farm, St Agnes – situated on the western coastline, this campsite has so much to offer. From panoramic sea views to woodland, it’s perfect for those that love to explore.

Scottish Highlands

If you're looking for a truly wild camping experience, the Scottish Highlands are the place to be. With rugged mountains, deep glens, and shimmering lochs, the Scottish Highlands offer some of the most breath-taking scenery in the UK. There are plenty of campsites in the area, but if you're feeling adventurous, why not try wild camping and pitch your tent in a secluded spot?

Scottish Highlands campsite recommendations:

  • Clachtoll Beach Campsite, Lairg – this is a superb option if you’re camping with kids and love an active holiday. Here you can partake in a variety of water sports, from bodyboarding to surfing, as well as enjoying walks in the woodland surrounded by wildlife.
  • Caolasnacon Caravan & Camping Park, Glencoe – if you fancy waking up to the most spectacular mountain views, this is the spot for you. Enjoy fishing and boating on the loch or head into Glencoe for a day trip, only a short 3 miles away.

Pembrokeshire

The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park in Wales is another great destination for a summer camping trip. The park is home to some of the most stunning coastal scenery in the UK, with rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, and clear blue waters. There are plenty of campsites in the area, many of which offer spectacular views of the sea.

Pembrokeshire campsite recommendations:

  • Little Haven Campsite, Little Haven – this is a stunning eco campsite in the Pembrokeshire Coastal National Park just half a mile distance to the stunning beaches of Little Haven and Broad Haven. We are a huge fan of this one as each pitch has its own washroom and toilet (bonus!), and they allow campfires to make those long summer evenings even dreamier.
  • Becks Bay Camping, Tenby – located on the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, this is a truly magnificent site with so much to offer – including a farm shop and café. This is certainly the place to recharge whilst immersing yourself in the ocean views. It’s also only a short distance from the wonderful town of Tenby, where you can check out the shops, tourist attractions and restaurants.
