Duvalay have donated 10 of their most comfortable mattresses to Candlelighters - a charity that supports families facing children’s cancer in Yorkshire.
The mattresses will be used in the newly opened Candlelighters Cottage – a home from home accommodation near to Leeds Children’s Hospital that enables families to stay together whilst a child is undergoing inpatient treatment.
Everyone at Duvalay knows that for many parents with children in hospital, sleeping in a chair at their bedside is the norm night after night. Candlelighters Cottage is now there to provide some much-needed comfort and respite to families who are going through the most difficult of times, and it is our intention that the mattresses we have donated will ensure that everyone staying at the cottage will get a good, comfortable night’s sleep.
We are absolutely delighted to be supporting such a worthy cause and it’s our privilege to help in any way we can with this project.
Margaret Ingram, the CEO of The Kentown Wizard Foundation, cut the ribbon during the cottage’s official opening after everyone was welcomed by Stephen Redman, who is the charity’s Chair of Trustees. The Foundation match funded £250,000 towards the project, which enabled the build to go ahead.
The cottage’s doors are due to officially open to families in mid-October.
