Duvalay have won a prestigious ‘Manufacturing Innovation Award’ at the 2019 Made in Yorkshire Awards, which celebrate world-class manufacturers from across the region.
The announcement was made at a glittering reception hosted by Insider Media – the UK’s most successful B2B media company – and held at the Hilton City Hotel in Leeds on Thursday, 7 March.
The West Yorkshire-based bed-makers, who are a BBC Dragons’ Den success story, came out on top in a category designed to recognise a company that has generated a substantial return and impact at both a national and international level for an innovative product designed and manufactured in Yorkshire.
Sales & Marketing Director Liz Colleran said: “Every day, we search for new ways to make it easier to sleep better and we are so grateful to the judges for recognising our commitment to ongoing innovation. We continue to be inspired by the words of Sir Richard Branson, who said: ‘Everyone should have a Duvalay’."
Duvalay’s award win reflects another fantastic year of growth following a strategic decision to invest £1.5m in an additional five-acre factory site in West Yorkshire to increase productivity and reduce lead times.
“Duvalay has received special recognition in the ‘Bed Manufacturer of the Year’ category at Britain’s Bed Industry Awards for the past two years in a row,” added Liz. “Our award wins demonstrate that, in the eyes of our industry peers, Duvalay are innovation thought leaders within the bed industry both here in the UK and overseas.”
Other in-year achievements for Duvalay include signing an exclusive licensing agreement that permits Chinese manufacturers to produce and distribute its Rosalia Collection to the East Asian market; the company is also exporting its handmade Hilary Devey Collection of beds and mattresses to the Far East.
Duvalay were selected to supply high-quality holiday home mattresses to Arleigh International – stockists of the largest range of static caravan parts and accessories in Europe – and chosen to be Mercedes-Benz’ mattress manufacturer for a high-specification, limited edition truck that has been developed exclusively for the UK market.
